Regaining back my shape
We all love outdoor activities because of the fun moments and recreation that they provide to us. However, if you take part in outdoor activities because there is a reason which is driving you to do that, then not only do you enjoy the pleasure but deep down in your heart you feel a sense of gratification.
My name is Joey Hesborne. I was born an athletic and during my youth especially when in college I used to take part in various outdoor activities although speed skating was my thing. I love the thrill of speed skating especially on long races and usually represented my school in various competitions. I have several trophies and awards that I’ve won and they are my sense of joy.
However when I finished college, got a job, married and settled down, things started taking a new twist. I became so much committed with this new life that I did little outside it. One thing that I gave up was my desire to take part in outdoor activities. It’s true that the new life never gave me any time for other things but definitely, I should have tried to squeeze a little time for what was once my passion.
Why am I telling you this?
It’s been almost six year since the start of this life and since then I gained so much weight until it became another to my wife. I’ve got two lovely kids and my marriage is a happy one. However, I believe that my change, especially the weight-gain, did not augur well with the expectations of my wife. She must have been disappointed by the way I seemed not to care.
Touched by her concerns, I decided that during my job leave weeks which were falling on a winter, I was to go for a speed skating expedition. My sole reason was to burn some calories. I figured out that even though there might be no one else to be with me, I was to take several exercises each day for the 4 weeks that I had scheduled for the exercise after which I will come home looking better.
That is what happened when I traveled to the Netherlands. I loved the place because of the ambiance that Europe offers. As usual I was never let down.
During my initial days in Amsterdam, skating was somehow a challenge because it was long since I skated and then I had really gained weight hence I was getting weary easily. As the days progressed I became more used and made friends from a group of guys who were training there.
Unlike them who came to train in the afternoon and some times in the evening, I would workout from mid morning till the later in the evening, though I reserved the weekend to for my own adventures. Each day in the evening I would check on my weight and I really loved the progress. I was burning the excess fats and it was working well for me.
By the end of the whole period my body was back to normal and when I traveled back home, my wife was so glad that I was in good shape. Back to office work, my coworkers really applauded me for getting back into shape.
